The Felt Z70 was the first road bike I've ever owned and its longest jaunt with me was about 60 miles. Apart from the eggbeater pedals it was factory spec (I don't seem to have the same compulsion to upgrade everything on a road bike.... yet). As part of the insurance payout from the Big Bike Theft of 2010, I bought a carbon road bike, so the Felt had to go. It was sold via a mountain bike forum to a kid from Middlesbrough for cash in a fitness club carpark. Weird but good to make cash back on it.
So long, and thanks for the introduction to skinny wheels.
The Scott CR1 that replaced her is a dream to ride, the carbon doesn't make it that much lighter but the drive train stiffness and dampening of road buzz makes a big difference. Acceleration and long distance comfort both vastly superior. The model I have is the lowest spec of the range that they make, its in team colours which has a little too much white and yellow for my liking, but I couldn't really justify another £2500 for a nicer colour!
I've commuted to work a few times and this weekend its time for my first century. 100 road miles in day... bring it on.
